The Smooth Check · 30 seconds

A straight answer, before you spend anything.

IPL works on contrast — darker hair against lighter-to-olive skin. Two questions tell us whether it will work on you. If it won't, we'll say so.

01 — Your hair colour

The hair you want treated, in its natural colour.

02 — Your skin tone

Closest match, without tan.

Your result

Good match — this contrast is what IPL is made for.

Expect visible reduction typically from weeks 3–4 with weekly use, fuller results by weeks 8–12, then top-ups. Patch test 24 hours before your first session.

Should work — with care.

Your combination sits at the edge of the range: progress may be slower, and the in-box shade chart plus a 24-hour patch test matter more for you than most. The sensor won't fire where it isn't safe. If you're unsure after the patch test, use the 60 days.

Don't buy it — IPL isn't for you.

With this combination there's either too little pigment in the hair for the light to target, or too much in the skin for it to be safe — and no home IPL device honestly changes that. A professional clinic can advise on laser types (such as Nd:YAG) that suit a wider range. We'd rather lose the sale than sell you a paperweight.

Answer both questions and your result appears here — honestly.

General suitability guidance, not medical advice. Whatever your result, patch test 24 hours before first use, never flash over tattoos, moles or broken skin, and not during pregnancy.
